Louise Durocher

Louise Durocher

Born in Montreal, Canada, Louise recalls that she sculpted her first piece at the age of eleven. When it came time for higher education, her family preferred that her vocation be more traditional, so Louise went to nursing school. However, the sculptor inside would not – could not—be quieted. In 1984, she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a major in Studio Arts from Concordia University in Montreal. Shortly after, her desire to create large-scale environmental works took her to Seattle, Washington, where she studied architecture and landscape architecture. In 1986, she was awarded a six-month scholarship to attend L’Ecole Speciale d’Architecture in Paris, France. She received her Masters of Architecture from the University of Washington, Seattle in 1990. Since then, she has been sculpting stone, metal, plaster, wax, buildings, interior and exterior spaces. In 2008, she started Monotype printing to represent her sculptural work in two dimensions.

Louise is an American and Canadian citizen. She lives in Seattle, WA.
For the last twenty years, Louise has been sharing her time between her Seattle studio and Pietrasanta, Italy where she now sculpts 3 months each year at Studio Giorgio Angeli.

Her work can be found in private collections in America, Europe, and Japan.

She works internationally
