Cuahutemoc Arturo Gonzalez aka Temoc
Artistic Muse: Drawing. Painting, Sculpture, Photography and Print Making
On Painting: " ..it is an extension of drawing. I studied Michael Angelo and
Rembrandt and developed the imagery by example rather than intent."
On Process: "The work is the result of my studies. Each piece is executed in
response to an image that presents itself. Like a sculptor, I take things away
until I get what I see -which is a contradiction but that's how it works. "
On Media: "I work on paper because you can get a quality of line that isn't
possible with canvas or wood. Like almost everyone who's come before. I work
on wood panel, because sometimes I can't afford canvas. Canvas is tradition
and if you really want to learn how to paint, then you have to go through
process. I use raw pigment and mix media so I can get color that nobody else
can duplicate. "
