Elizabeth Gorcey

Elizabeth Gorcey is a multi-disciplinary artist. Elizabeth is known as an actress with films like ‘Footloose’, ‘Teenwolf’, a director documentary’s ‘How Old is Old,’ & “Just Another Man’s Story’, a writer of the children’s book series ‘Liv On Life ‘. Elizabeth is a contemporary oil painter exploring the human condition. Gorcey has paintings, “ quote from Peter Frank?- She is currently working on an installation on aging and bringing a voice to this group that is often invisible and put on the sidelines. Elizabeth documentary ‘Adopting Ginny’ about a 62 old woman with disabilities who was adopted by her family, was featured on CNN and adapted as a play by the head of Yale School of Drama. As a collaborative venture, Elizabeth and her daughter wrote the award-winning children’s book series, ‘Liv on Life’, featured in People Magazine a best holiday gift for children. ‘Liv On Life’ series aims to cultivate a child’s sense of confidence and kindness, written from the perspective of parents and children, encouraging families to embrace authenticity. Gorcey is very involved in the community & philanthropic, she began her non-profit art program, Caring Strokes for HIV+ Children. Gorcey became the community liaison for LAC+USC Medical Center for disadvantaged & HIV+ children & teens. Gorcey has gotten grants from Cultural Art Affairs, Geffen Records, Mattel Toys and many other places to help these children with necessities. Also, turning their art projects into greeting cards and curating exhibitions at the children’s museum for the kids of her program.

Elizabeth became a painter when she was a little girl, often sitting under her mom’s desk, drawing & painting because there wasn’t a babysitter. Winning an award at the age of 10 for her watercolor “Chinese Tea Pot”, displayed in the New Jersey State Museum. Some recent exhibitions include Oceanside Museum, Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Art, International – Taoyuan Exhibition Center, Monmouth University & University of Bridgeport's Schelfhaudt Gallery & Columbian Presbyterian Hospital, to name a few. Recently, one of her artworks was chosen for the cover of the New York Presbyterian Magazine. In Collections at the William Morris Agency, USC Medical Center, and private as well permanent collection at the Yerevan Modern Art Museum. Elizabeth lives and works in Los Angeles.
